Summer Day Camp for STEAM Makers (Grade 1-8)
Topics: Circuts, Robotics and Coding
August 12 – 16, 2019 9am – 4pm
Before and After Care available
Are you passionate about Electronics, Robots and Programming? Would you like to learn how to assemble robots and then program them to perform a variety of actions? Look no further than Makerwiz Summer Day Camp: CODE IT!
Electronic Circuits are networks consisting of individual active electronic components connected by conductive paths for current to flow—the bases of all electronic devices. Robotics is an interdisciplinary field in science and engineering concerned with the design, construction, operation and use of robots and their computer control systems. In this 5-day Summer Camp, participants will learn about the fundamental ideas in Circuits and Robotics and how to apply them to build simple electronic devices and robots, and to control them by implementing algorithms, or Coding. They will have fun learning robotics using several platforms such as Sphero, Alpha, Jimu, Snap Circuits, Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Campers will compete in teams for prizes, and everyone will be able to take home a soldered LED badge.
Camp includes Movie Outing on Tuesday and Pizza Lunch on Friday, as well as outdoor activities in the afternoons (weather permitting). Due to our focus on small group, project-based learning, spaces are extremely limited. Register ASAP! Early Bird tickets are on sale until February 28 only.
Participants may bring their own computer for the workshop. A PC or Mac notebook less than 4 years old with capability for Internet access is ideal. We will be providing access to a Chromebook per team of 2 participants.
Participants are required to bring their own water bottle, snacks and lunch. Please note that only nut-free foods are allowed. Morning break (10:30-10:45am), lunch hour (12-1pm) and afternoon break (2:30-2:45pm) will be supervised.
We will be contacting each ticket purchaser to provide the name, age, gender, grade and special needs of the intended participants in a registration form. Camp waiver forms must also be filled in before the first day of camp. Please leave us a valid email address where you can be contacted.
