Summer Day Camp for STEAM Makers (Grade 1-8)
Topics: Design Thinking and 3D Modelling
July 22 – 26, 2019 9am – 4pm
Before and After Care available
Are you serious about Design Thinking and 3D Modelling? Would you like to learn how to solve problems by thinking outside the box, then apply those concepts to create cool 3D objects? Look no further than Makerwiz Summer Day Camp: DESIGN IT!
Design Thinking refers to the creative strategies that designers apply to solve problems in the real world. 3D Modelling is the design of novel objects in 3 dimensions, a critical 21st Century job skill for the builders and inventors of tomorrow. In this 5-day Summer Camp, participants will learn about the creative process of Design Thinking and how to apply these new ideas in 3D Modelling of original objects for virtual and real applications, such as games, animations and 3D printing. They will learn to use a variety of CAD (computer-aided design) programs such as TinkerCad and Fusion 360 (depending on age) to create designs that have never existed in the history of the universe! Campers will compete in teams for prizes, and everyone will be able to take home a 3D printed copy of their original design.
Camp includes Movie Outing on Tuesday and Pizza Lunch on Friday, as well as outdoor activities in the afternoons (weather permitting). Due to our focus on small group, project-based learning, spaces are extremely limited. Register ASAP! Early Bird tickets are on sale until February 28 only.
Participants may bring their own computer for the workshop. A PC or Mac notebook less than 4 years old with capability for Internet access is ideal. We will be providing access to a Chromebook per team of 2 participants.
Participants are required to bring their own water bottle, snacks and lunch. Please note that only nut-free foods are allowed. Morning break (10:30-10:45am), lunch hour (12-1pm) and afternoon break (2:30-2:45pm) will be supervised.
We will be contacting each ticket purchaser to provide the name, age, gender, grade and special needs of the intended participants in a registration form. Camp waiver forms must also be filled in before the first day of camp. Please leave us a valid email address where you can be contacted.
