July 16, 2017 – How to Build a 3D Printer Workshop
– In this workshop, participants learn to build the STARTT 3D Printer from iMakr and bring their own device home. This is a satellite event of the Toronto Maker Festival held at CSI Spadina.

June 17, 2017 – How to Make a 3D Lithophane Workshop at Markham Public Library (1-2 pm)
– In this workshop, participants will learn how to use Thingiverse Customizer to make a lithophane from their favourite photograph. A lithophane is a thin print that looks like a photograph when viewed with back light. After creating their lithophanes, particpants will save their project in .stl format and have the option of 3D printing their work at a later time. Basic concepts of 3D printing and 3D customization will be discussed.

– How to Make a 3D Portrait Workshop at Markham Public Library (2-3 pm)
– In this workshop, participants will learn how to use Occipital Sensor / iSense 3D Scanner to make 3D portraits of their fellow attendants. A 3D portrait is akin to a sculptural rendition of a person or an object. After creating their portraits of one another, participants will enhance the raw .obj file in MeshMixer and export it to .stl format suitable for 3D printing at a later time. Basic concepts of 3D scanning and 3D file editing will be discussed.

June 10-11, 2017 – Vancouver Mini Maker Faire
– Makerwiz will be presenting “3D Printing for Science Education” at this year’s VMMF. This exhibit will demonstrate the use of 3D printing in science education, from the molecular and cellular all the way to the interstellar. Sample projects (designed by teachers, for teachers) will illustrate the power of 3D printing in engaging active learning by students. Resources from important organizations such as the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be explored. Science educators will learn how to make the best use of 3D printing in their curriculum to bring modern K-12 STEM education to the next level.

June 10, 2017 – How to Make a 3D Rubber Stamp Workshop at Markham Public Library (1-2 pm)
– In this workshop, participants will learn how to use PrintShop to make rubber stamps from a diagram or a sketch. A rubber stamp is great for everyday use to preserve or evoke the original image desired. After creating their designs, participants will convert it into .stl format suitable for 3D printing using a flexible material at a later time. Basic concepts of 2D to 3D conversion and 3D printing materials will be discussed.

– How to Make a 3D Logo Workshop at Markham Public Library (2-3 pm)
– In this workshop, participants will learn how to use Tinkercad to make a 3D logo from their business or their favourite sports team. A 3D logo is an attractive promotional tool for a business or a team. After creating their logos, participants will adjust them to the appropriate size and save it in .stl format for 3D printing at a later time. Basic concepts of 3D design will be discussed.

– This year, we are giving away 3D printed fidget spinners at York Region’s largest street festival. Come visit us at Booth 306 in Block 8 on Yonge Street and choose a spinner among 16+ colours and 3 different styles!

May 25, 2017 – 3D Hubs Toronto Makerspace Crawl #7: Site3 coLaboratory Open House (cancelled)
– This seventh edition of our monthly Makerspace Crawl with 3D Hubs TO will bring to Toronto’s most eclectic art and technology workspace. Site 3 coLaboratory is a 2,000 square foot member-run makerspace in Toronto’s west end dedicated to making, teaching, learning and thinking about the intersection between art and technology. Members there make amazing things and teach others to make amazing things, too. Their vision is to have a space that promotes a four step cycle of create, display, teach and inspire.

May 16-18, 2017 – Advanced Design and Manufacturing Expo Toronto
– We walk the floor of this major show in Toronto to report the latest in additive manufacturing and maker and robotics technology to our fans.

April 18, 2017 – 3D Hubs Toronto Makerspace Crawl #6: DIYbio.TO Open House
– This sixth edition of our monthly Makerspace Crawl with 3D Hubs TO will bring us back to Hacklab.TO 2.0 to visit the new DIYbio.TO lab. DIYbio.TO is a community of bio-enthusiasts in the Toronto area who are fascinated by the miniature world of molecular biology and excited that biotechnology has progressed far enough for citizen scientists to do experiments outside of academia and industry. Their aim is to provide a space for conversation, learning, and collaboration which will ultimately lead to innovation in this burgeoning field. Join us at 6pm to tour their new lab (with its accumulating equipment repertoire including microscopes, centrifuge, incubators and more) and for tasty PWYC (pay-what-you-can) dinner.

February 21, 2017 – 7 – 3D Hubs Toronto Makerspace Crawl #5: DIYbio.TO / Hacklab.TO 2.0 Open House
– This fifth edition of our monthly Makerspace Crawl with 3D Hubs TO is tentatively scheduled to be a visit to DIYbio.TO. Housed within Hacklab.TO 2.0, DIYbio.TO is a community of bio-enthusiasts in the Toronto area who are fascinated by the miniature world of molecular biology. They are excited that biotechnology has progressed far enough for citizen scientists to do experiments outside of academia and industry. Their aim is to provide a space for conversation, learning, and collaboration which can ultimately lead to innovation in this burgeoning field. Join us for a discussion on “biomaking” at 6 pm.

February 1, 2017 – NewMakeIt Open House + Wednesday Night Build Club
– NewMakeIt is a nonprofit makerspace and co-working space dedicated to helping other entrepreneurs, inventors, makers, and artists achieve their goals cost-effectively. Their state-of-the-art facility provides creative professionals with the interactive training and workshops they need to refine their concepts and projects, and the physical space, tools, and technology to build the products, digital services, or artworks they envision. Come tour this awesome facility and build something with us.

January 31, 2017 – 3D Hubs Toronto Makerspace Crawl #4: STEAMLABS Tour (postponed from December 15, 2016)
– This fourth edition of our monthly Makerspace Crawl with 3D Hubs TO was a visit to STEAMLABS. STEAMLABS is a non-profit community makerspace, in Toronto where people of all ages and abilities come together for access to high tech tools, to learn, and to create. We had a short tour of this amazing new space at 5:30 pm sharp followed by coffee at a nearby Starbucks.

January 28, 2017 – MPL Family Literacy Day Event
– Makerwiz joins Markham Public Library to celebrate the Canada-wide Family Literacy Day festivities. We have a booth at Milliken Mills Branch from 10 am to 1 pm to demonstrate 3D printing. Come visit us to find out our latest offerings!

December 15, 2016 – 3D Hubs Toronto Makerspace Crawl #4 (cancelled due to snow day)
– This fourth edition of monthly Makerspace Crawl with 3D Hubs TO is a visit to Social Body Lab, an OCAD University group focusing on meaningful and provocative interactions beyond the basic functionality of incorporating technology into clothing. We are joining our friends at Make Friends and our host SBL to discuss the relationship between humans and technology through working prototypes and fully manifested projects.

December 3, 2016 – Global #3DPrintingDay
– Makerwiz joins 3D Hubs in celebrating the annual special day for 3D printing around the world. We are meeting at our old hangout, the Fox and Fiddle York Mills Pub, from 2 to 5 pm. Special guests may even include the CEO of a prominent 3D printing company!

November 25, 2016 – 3D Hubs Toronto Makerspace Crawl #3
– Our Makerspace Crawl is a monthly visit to a different makerspace in the GTA. This 3rd edition we join GTA Robotics to visit NewMakeIt, a collaborative makerspace and coworking space. Founded in 2016 by four local enterprising entrepreneurs (including our Maker-in-Chief Peter), NewMakeIt is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping creative professionals achieve their goals cost-effectively by providing them with the interactive training and workshops they need to refine their concepts and works, and the physical space, tools, and technology to build the products, digital services, or artworks they envision. October 28 – 30, 2016 – TAVES Consumer Electronics Show
– Canada’s largest consumer electronics trade show. Makerwiz had demos at our display booth and a workshop on “Your 3D Scanning Self” at the show.

October 26, 2016 – 3D Hubs Toronto Makerspace Crawl #2  / Ylab Open House: October
– Our Makerspace Crawl is a monthly visit to a different makerspace in the GTA. This 2nd edition features ylab, a social club-style makerspace located in the basement of the historic David Dunlap Observatory in Richmond Hill. Come meet other 3D printing enthusiasts and fellow makers during the Open House and enjoy the Debate “Laser Cutter vs. 3D Printer: Which is Best?” Which side are you on?
